About Suzanne

After years in the business world, I followed my heart and returned to school to receive my Master’s in Counseling. Today, I have over twenty years of experience in the field. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice in Laguna Hills, CA. I am an EMDR trained therapist, an International and California Certified Gambling Counselor II, and an Authorized Treatment Provider and Supervisor for problem gamblers and their loved ones in the State of California.

I successfully treat individuals and couples, and I specialize in trauma, betrayal trauma, gambling, codependency, grief, depression, and anxiety. Each of these areas has been a part of my own path at different junctures of my life. I continue to find new, more effective and efficient methods of healing.

I use a caring, direct and interactive approach. I absolutely believe in your ability to process your trauma, alleviate your emotional and physical pain, stop gambling, greatly improve your relationships, and transform your life. Together we will find new approaches and solutions to your problems – so that you can be a freer, happier, and healthier you.

I have been a clinician in such diverse settings as a psychiatric hospital mood disorder program, problem gambling, dual diagnosis, and residential substance abuse treatment programs, a University counseling center, and community clinics.

I have presented my work at regional and local conferences and trained medical and mental health professionals, educators and the public. I have also conducted webinars and authored professional papers on betrayal trauma, problem gambling, and loved ones of problem gamblers.
I have been a therapist in the problem gambling field for twenty years. I worked in the country’s largest outpatient gambling treatment program, and currently run outpatient groups for male and female gamblers.  Whether you have a gambling problem or are affected by the gambling problem of another, I can help. Read the relevant subsection Gambling Problems or Loved Ones of Addicts for more information.

I hold two master’s degrees in Mental Health Counseling and Communication Studies. I serve on the Advisory Committee for the California Council on Problem Gambling, and am a member of California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, and EMDR International Association (EMDRIA).
