About Suzanne

After years in the business world and much exploration, I followed my heart and returned to school to receive my Master’s in Counseling. Today, I have twenty years of experience in the field. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice in Laguna Hills. I am also an EMDR trained therapist, a National and California Certified Gambling Counselor II, and an Authorized Treatment Provider and Supervisor for problem gamblers and their loved ones in the State of California.

I successfully treat individuals and couples, and I specialize in problem gambling, codependency, trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, and couples. Each of these areas has been a part of my own path at different junctures of my life. I continue to learn, grow, and find new methods of healing.

I use a caring, direct and interactive approach, and I absolutely believe in your ability to work through your struggles and transform your life. Together we will find new approaches, tools and solutions to your problems – so that you can be a freer, happier, and more balanced you.

I have been a clinician in such diverse settings as a psychiatric hospital mood disorder program, dual diagnosis treatment center, residential substance abuse treatment program, University counseling center, and community clinics. I am also a training specialist. I have presented my work at regional and local conferences and trainings for medical and mental health professionals, educators and the public, among others, and have authored professional papers on problem gambling.

I hold two master’s degrees in Mental Health Counseling and Communication Studies. I serve on the Advisory Committee for the California Council on Problem Gambling, and am a member of California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, and EMDR International Association (EMDRIA).

Gambling Specialist
I have been a therapist in the problem gambling field for twenty years. I worked in the country’s largest outpatient gambling treatment program, have attended problem gambling conferences and trainings across the country, and developed a gender specific track for female gamblers. This is an area of passion for me.

In addition to being a problem gambling therapist, I am a supervisor and training specialist. I have presented at conferences and trainings on problem gambling. I have also authored professional papers on the subject, including Problem Gambling and Women, Problem Gambling and Gaming Industry Employees. Whether you have a gambling problem or are affected by the gambling problem of another, I can help. Read the relevant subsection Gambling Problems or Loved Ones of Addicts for more information.

I can also provide your group or organization, staff or clients with a free, tailored training on problem gambling.
